Since the point of exercise is to improve your condition, this doesn’t make sense, but it still deters some people. Exercise can be a little scary for people who have been sedentary for a long time, and this is not unnatural. Some people try exercising and are discouraged when they find how easily they tire. If, however, you don’t overdo it and start wherever you can, you can make gradual progress. Most people can find a level that’s good for them, though if you have any health concerns you should consult with a medical professional first. If you feel out of shape, you might want to start walking regularly, as this is something you can begin as slowly as you want, and increase as you get fitter.
Many people get bored with their exercise routine within weeks of starting it. This is the reason many personal trainers recommend varying the types of exercises you do. This helps to prevent boredom and also improves the efficiency of your workouts by not allowing your muscles to adapt. So if you go to the gym, don’t use the exact same machines or take the same classes month after month. Try varying the focus of your training when lifting weights.
